Introduction to Résumé Writing

By: Anonymous

Companies rely heavily on the resumes they receive to screen potential candidates, despite the time consumption and headache. If a company is given the choice between two candidates of equal abilities, hiring managers will always prefer to interview the one with the most artfully constructed resume. For that reason, candidates with excellent qualifications are often overlooked. Companies end up hiring someone of lower qualifications and less talent. Some of the best candidates have the best resumes, however some just surface due to word of mouth. If you can’t afford to count on your reputation or recommendations then you’ll need more than the right qualifications to get the job you want. You need a dynamite resume.

You may consider a resume as an advertisement for your availability. It is ethical common sense to honestly and clearly document your credentials. In other words, don’t make exaggerated claims about your past. Achieving a dynamite resume is not achieved by changing the facts, rather through strengthening the content of your resume, or by enhancing its appearance.

Always keep in mind that the employer is able to detect how you present yourself to others, what you have done in the past, and what you are likely to accomplish in the future, all through your resume.

Waiting ur questions about how 2 write a cv.. and feel free to write ur questions in Arabic or English 🙂

Well, u can get many forms from the internet and here are some links that shows some resume templates:

Everyone must choose the best format that really emphasize his qualifications.. u must know how 2 market urself in the market, u should be specialized in something and ur cv must be unique so that it can attract the reader or the recruiter.

I’ll prepare some tips that are going 2 help u all in writing ur cv

These are 10 tips for how to write your cv in a professional way:

  • You can use any of the above formal forms of resumes.

  • In the Objective section, write a small brief about the field u want to work in, the type of the company (National or Multi-national).

  • In the education section, write the faculty u’ve graduated from and the school and mention the type of the school. Also write any post graduate studies as diplomas or other certifications.

  • In the Experience section, write every company name and the job title in each company and it’s very important to state the resposibilities and the job description.

  • Training and courses section, write every single course u’ve taken, even if u didn’t take a certificate.. that might add to ur personality for the employer.

  • Computer skills section, also write every single program or skills u know , although u didn’t work on that program for several years.

ex: Microsoft package (word, excel, access,……)

Windows (98, xp, vista, 8, 10……..)

operating systems (linux, dos,…..

programming languages (HTML, JAVA, SQL,………)

  • U must write the languages u know, speak, write and read in the Language section.

  • 8- In the personal information section, write some info as:

e-mail, Military Status, Birth Date, Marital Status, Nationality, Religion

  • If u find some other info about urself u must write it in the “Additional skills” section, as:

– Fast Learner

– Hard Worker

– Self Motivated

– Good Communication Skills.

10- U must write ur cv by urself, because u’ll be asked in every single detail in the interview. Don’t write anything that u don’t know or not familiar with.

N.B: some mistakes that will not make ur resume acceptable:

– Don’t write the job title without job description and job responsibilities.

– Don’t write many different careers that are not related to each other that u’ve

worked in, the employer will take a notice that u’re moving alot and is a career shifter.

– If u stayed alot at home without any job and work, takecare that this will be asked in

the interview, and in that case u must do the following:

* Don’t write dates for ur previous jobs in the cv.

** U must have an answer for that question in the interview.
